Some recent commissions:

Capiche Collectiv.

A bourgondisch bunch of funky groove vendors hailing from Tilburg, Breda and Den Haag. I drew up some branding for them along with an additional animated variation well suited for grabbing some attention on the socials!

‘ The Road to Fayoum ’

This visual was the result of a Dutch-Kurdish wedding that will take place in Fayoum, a small ceramics village not too far from the oasis southwest of Cairo.

(I have a hunch that they wanted the location to be equally inconvenient for both parties!)

After looking through their vacation archives they made it clear that a lot of the compositions they had taken focused on this juxtaposition of old traditional ways of living and the trappings of modern day pragmatism (or, for lack of a better word, ‘trashiness’). The balance of the beautiful view of an ancient building that had been enjoyed for tens of thousands of years perfectly sliced in half by a purely utile modern day phone line.

The Arabic calligraphy was designed by an artist named Chaf.41

Chat GPT love poem

In a land of bathroom bliss,

There’s a tap that loves a little twist.

With a mischievous grin it’ll spray and splatter.

Leaving you soaked, what a funny matter!

‘ You Turn Me On ’

Sometimes I get cute commissions from couples. Knowing both of them personally, it was kind of strange being the bearer of this message. The source material:

Lumin Special Lighting

This piece was commissioned to be a “funny but not too funny”, slightly biblical based Christmas card to be send out to Lumin’s loyal client base:

Three Wise Men Lost in Limburg

Once upon a time, long after their famous side-quest to Bethlehem, the Three Wise Men found themselves in a bit of a retirement rut. Melchior, Gaspar, and Balthazar, who once followed a star to deliver gifts to a divine baby, were feeling a bit lost in the mundanity of everyday life.

One day, Melchior had a brilliant idea.
“Why don’t we use our expert gift-giving skills to start a business?”

Gaspar and Balthazar were intrigued. After a lengthy discussion and a few cups of tea (or maybe something a bit stronger), the trio decided to venture into the world of commerce.
But what kind of business would be fit for their legendary status?

Then it hit them: a lighting component delivery company! After all, they were the original light-chasers, following that celestial bulb in the sky to find the baby Jesus.
It seemed like the perfect fit.

Melchior took charge of the design department, Gaspar handled the finances, and Balthazar, the smooth talker, was on fire in the marketing department. Their teamwork was as harmonious as their first big birthday in Bethlehem.

And so, although it was a logistical miracle that the wise-guys made it through the rolling hills and dales of the Limburg countryside on camel back (mid winter may I add), they found a new purpose in illuminating the world with their components, bringing joy and light to people’s lives, long after the star of Bethlehem had faded into the stories of the past..

The end.

‘ Goodbye 2022 ’

This piece was part of a social-media campaign for the Fenix Food Factory, a food hall in Rotterdam. During the 27 days of advent a section of the art work would be posted on instagram (hence the long skinny composition), along with a ‘present’ from one of the vendors within the market!
